National Social Service (NSS)

NSS is an essential scheme launched by Dr. V.K.Rao Education Minister, Government Of India in thirty seven (37) Universities with forty thousand students but now scheme is so popular that most of the Universities have adopted it and now the number of participating students has grown more than twenty seven lakhs.

In the year 1992 this scheme was adopted by the students studying in 10+2 schools and polytechnics  with a unified scheme throughout the country.

Main Activities of NSS are:-
(i) Environmental development and conservation.
(ii) Health, Family welfare and Nutrition
(iii) Ladies welfare programme.
(iv) Social service programme.
(v) Disaster management works
(vi) Activities relating to education and recreation.

NSS in the Institute:-
NSS has been initiated in this institute since 1999-2000 with a strength of 50 students in its regular programme and 25 students allotted for special camp. Presently the scheme is being operated with one unit of 100 students in normal regular activities, fifty students have been allotted for special camping as per norms.

The following activities have been carried out by the institute during session (2008-09):-
(i) 50 plants were planted by the students
(ii) 14 students donated blood in the blood donation camp, the camp was organized by  the district hospital.
(iii) A sum of Rs. 1750/- contributed to flood relief fund by the students and donated to Prime Minister relief fund New Delhi.
(iv) Cleanliness Day was observed by the students in full grandeur.
(v) Lectures were organized on Disaster Management.
(vi) Three one day camps were organized in the remote areas.
(vii) Special seven day camp was organized in village Maleka maya Bhinsali (Garapur)
